MITCH McCONNELL: CAUGHT BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE

image

After the final votes for 2016’s Super Tuesday contest were counted, two very different themes emerged. One, Hillary Clinton’s 7/11 victory over Sanders has all but cleared a path to the Democratic Nomination. Two, Donald Trump’s 7/11 win has leaders in the GOP trying to figure out how to stop him.

Just days before voting, Trump seemed to waver in an interview about whether or not he disavowed support from the KKK and white supremacist, David Duke. Senate Majority leader, Mitch McConnell, seeing the damage Donald has inflicted on the Republican party, immediately denounced the GOP frontrunner for his slow-moving disavowal and “seeming ambivalence about David Duke and the KKK.”

McConnell suggested there is no place for the Ku Klux Klan, David Duke or racism in the GOP. But where were these comments when it was clear Trump’s rallies were full of white supremacists? Why wasn’t there criticism of the subtle and overt prejudice President Obama faced with both the birther and Muslim attacks that dogged both his Presidential campaigns? Was that all just politics as usual?

After Obama’ second term win, the GOP establishment specifically spoke on the need to increase minority membership. Now, however, the “subtle” racism of the GOP of the past has been replaced with the overt racist commentary of Trump and his supporters. And McConnell now finds himself in the unenviable position of criticizing someone who’s simply revealing what the GOP has stood for all along.

MORGAN FREEMAN ENDORSES HILLARY CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT

image

In an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon, Academy Award winner, Morgan Freeman announced his support and endorsement ofHillary Clinton for President. When asked by Lemon, what are some of the major issues facing the country, Freeman pointed to security and income inequality.

Freeman’s public support in the interview serves to validate that he wasn’t just collecting a voice-over check in Clinton’s latest ad. In it Freeman intones, “Her life’s work has been about breaking barriers and so would her presidency, which is why for every American who’s not being paid what they’re worth, who’s being held back by student debt or a system tilted against them, and there are far too many of you, she understands that our country can’t reach its potential unless we all do.”

The ad debuted Friday on MSNBC and a longer version is set to begin airing in South Carolina just in time for the state’s Democratic primary.

DONALD TRUMP IS ABOUT TO MAKE IT RAIN ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL!

Screenshot_2015-12-31-02-49-51-1
Donald Trump, who is barely clinging on to his frontrunner status for the Republican Presidential Nomination, is about to set it off, billionaire style. The boisterous business man who has insulted his way to the top of the polls claims he’ll begin spending two million dollars a week on ads at the beginning of 2016.

The announcement comes at a time where Trump has seen his huge lead nearly evaporate and is now running neck and neck with Ted Cruz in early primary states. But unlike Cruz or the other Republican candidates, The Donald doesn’t have a legitimate PAC or donor group behind him. So, it looks like the billionaire will be self-financing the tv spots.

The genius of spin has even claimed to be thirty-five million dollars under budget. Apparently, that was his original budget and since he’s yet to spend anything he’s using it as a tool to tout his boss business moves. We’ll be looking forward to seeing the next stage of the Trump Tragedy when the ads drop. Hopefully they’ll do more for his campaign than Ben Carson’s radio rap ads.

A DONALD TRUMP NOW BEING COMPARED TO HITLER: HAS SOCIAL MEDIA LOST ITS CHILL?

Screenshot_2015-12-09-10-57-47-1
Donald Trump continues to hold on to the top spot of Republicans vying for their party’s Presidential Nomination. But in the wake of yet another sensational remark from the GOP frontrunner, a meme comparing The Donald to Hitler has started making its rounds on social media.

When Trump called for a ban on all Muslims entering the United States, that seemed to be the last straw for members of the Republican establishment. But it wasn’t surprising, given Trump’s track record thus far. Many are now seizing on recent and past comments and painting an alarming comparison to the rise of Donald Trump and that of Adolf Hitler.

But is this going too far? Whether or not you agree with Trump being lumped in with Hitler is one thing, but you have to admit there are definitely similarities in the verbiage. And considering how often Donald has made prejudicial remarks on the campaign trail, was it just a matter of time before he was labeled a racist?

CHRIS CHRISTIE GETS ENDORSEMENT FROM THE NEW HAMPSHIRE UNION: UNFORTUNATELY THEY HAVEN’T PICKED A WINNER SINCE REAGAN

Screenshot_2015-11-30-18-13-56-1.jpg

Chris Christie has just gotten a bit of CPR in his quest for the Republican nomination for President. The New Hampshire Union Leader, the state’s largest paper, has endorsed Christie for President. But will it help?

Christie has languished in the polls ever since Trump and Carson have become the darlings of the Republican party. But this latest endorsement could be a foreshadowing shift of things to come. Perhaps Republicans are tiring of the antics and incompetence they see in Trump and Carson, respectively.

But though this endorsement is a major coups for Christie, it’s unlikely to give hime a significant boost. That is, if history’s any indicator. The paper’s endorsement hasn’t picked the winner of the Presidency OR Republican candidate since Ronald Reagan.

CARLY FIORINA REFERS TO PLANNED PARENTHOOD SHOOTER AS A PROTESTER

Screenshot_2015-11-30-02-19-36-1
It seems that Republicans and the right wing media will refer to Planned Parenthood killer, Robert Dear as anything but a domestic terrorist. Carly Fiorina, a declining Republican candidate for President, has given the genteel title of “protester” to the 57 year-old shooter.

She’s not the only candidate backing off of the terrorist title many are labeling Dear. Ted Cruz, when confronted with the fact that the shooter mentioned baby parts (a reference to a now widely discredited Planned Parenthood video) commented that Dear had also been reported as being a “transgendered leftist activist”. Not that there is anything wrong with being a left-leaning transgender woman with independent political views.

The mayor of Colorado Springs, John Suthers, originally stated the shooting appeared to be an act of domestic terrorism, but later referred to Dear as mentally ill. Fiorina, for her part, eventually labeled the shooting a tragedy and called the killer a “deranged” man who should be tried for murder… tougher, but not quite tough enough.

FLORIDA REPRESENTATIVE THREATENS LAWSUIT IF CRUZ REPUBLICAN NOMINEE: IS THERE ANOTHER BIRTHER SCANDAL ON THE HORIZON?

30cruz-articleLarge
Funny how the whole birther issue that attached itself to Barack Obama has come full circle. This time, however, the birthers may be coming after one of their own; Republican candidate for President, Ted Cruz.

Alan Grayson, a Florida Representative has announced he will sue to challenge Cruz’s citizenship and his right to ascend the highest office in the land. Turns out, Cruz was born in Canada, albeit to an American mother. His father, of course, was a Cuban born national who escaped the Communist country and immigrated to the U.S. (see the irony forming…?)

Because Cruz was born to an American mother, regardless of where he came into the world, he would legally be considered a Natural Born American by Constitutional standards. But oh, how funny it would be to see Cruz subjected to the same ridiculous standards those in his party tried to hold Barack Obama to.

MELANIA STUMPS FOR TRUMP: ALMOST UNRECOGNIZABLE FROM HER FORMER SELF

1448626146088

Melania Trump finally addressed fans and supporters at a Trump rally and we couldn’t help notice how much she’s changed since before she met The Donald!

Back in the day, Melania modeled lingerie and even worked the Runways in Paris and Milan. Many may have forgotten that Donald Trump had a modelling agency, and at one time signed Melania to it. The latest, and perhaps the last, Mrs. Trump parlayed her beauty background into business dealings that included skincare and a costume jewelry line that was featured on QVC. Who knew…?

Supporters had been wanting to see more of Melania on the campaign trail and she finally obliged looking 5th Avenue chic in a camel colored dress and red coat. Clearly, she’s had some work over the years because compared to the photo of a younger Melania Knauss, she looks more like a very attractive close relative than an older version of herself. But hey, who isn’t getting work these days? Oh yeah, Candy Carson.

We look forward to hearing more from Melania as Trump continues to bully his way towards the Republican nomination. There hasn’t been much by way of her political views but she certainly gives great fashion and face for someone in her mid-forties. But we could hardly expect anything less from a billionaire’s wife.

THE REALITY SHOW OF WHAT HAS BECOME THE REPUBLICAN PRIMARY DEBATE SEASON

151028215446-cnbc-gop-debate-group-3-640x360

With too many candidates still clinging on to hope they could be the Republican nominee for President, Fox has instituted some new rules for its upcoming Business Debate. The new standards have an X Factor feel to them with a minimum polling standard being put in place.

Fox Business Network, which is hosting the debate, is mandating a 2.5% polling average in the four most recent national polls in order to be on the main stage. So it looks like New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie may be relegated to undercard status.

But hold on! In order to compete in that undercard debate, candidates must have at least 1% in one of those polls. So it looks as though Donald Trump’s call for some of those at the bottom of the pack to drop out has been answered. Without an opportunity to participate in the next debate, it will be hard to see Jindal or Pataki hanging on much longer.

We’ll have to wait and see what the polls do to the fates of the candidates when Fox announces the main debate participants. But with these new rules in place, there will definitely be some liveliness to the next event. There’s nothing like the threat of being voted off the island to make for more aggressive tactics.

TRUMP FINALLY GIVES DETAILS ON HOW HE’D MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN: BUT YOU’LL HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks at a news conference to promote his new book

Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for President, who has been at the top of Republican primary polls for months has been short on answers on how he’ll run the country. To be fair, he’s said what he will do, who will pay for it and why it needs to be done, but has never explained details to back any of it up.

Well, the wait is finally over. Trump held another of his escalator press conferences inside the Trump Tower and announced details on how he plans to Make America Great Again. Actually, he announced the release of his new book, Crippled America, which he claims will do just that. However critics who’ve seen portions of the book say it’s just the same rhetoric and commentary Donald’s been preaching on the campaign trail with few, if any, new details.

So was the run for Washington’s supreme leader just a clever marketing tool to drum up interest and sales for his book? Time will tell. But one thing’s for sure, Trump has gotten this far without having to say anything credible so why stop now.
