Lay Me Anywhere… Inside or Out!

You’ve got to love the versatility of an indoor/outdoor rug. The patterns these days are fantastic, the colors are rich and true and when you get bored (as I tend to do) with having one in the living room you can switch things and create new energy on the balcony. I took this Ballard design for my bathroom and it’s a lot less worry stepping out on this than a towel or bath mat. Naturally resistant to mold, it also stays perfectly in place with a rug pad underneath. And though I love looking at it first thing in the morning, with the great deal I got online, I can’t wait to try a little something different come fall!

Healthy, Wealthy & Wise… 2 Outta 3 Ain’t Bad!

What is it about being slim that automatically makes people think I’m so lucky? First of all, being thin is no more a blessing than being big is a curse. What truly matters is how healthy we are, not what size workout gear we squeeze ourselves into. Just like bodies come in all shapes and sizes so too do body insecurities. It was years before I’d wear anything but a turtleneck for fear I’d look too thin in a button down shirt. But every year at the old annual physical I get the same fantastically clean bill of health. And I’m finally coming to terms with the fact that it takes plenty of exercise to keep that bill clean. Feeling comfortable in one’s own skin, regardless of the size, must be worth at least a couple points in the wisdom department. Now if I can only figure out a way to get to the wealthy part… SOON!

divaD Fitness and Health secrets:

1) A Balanced Diet — Everything in moderation and no low fat or fat free nothing!

2) Supplements — A little extra insurance for a healthy body, inside and out!

3) Daily Stretching and Weekly Exercise — For me, leg lifts and riding a horse. For you, it could be yoga and riding a man… Whatever gets the heart rate pumping!

When the Italian’s Away, I Still Need to Play!

After driving around the parking lot twice to confirm that AGO really was closed for remodeling, I was in a funk for days trying to figure out what to do for cocktails, dinner or desert when next in L.A. Leave it to my fab friend from Paradise Valley to suggest Villa Blanca in Beverly Hills. Though the seating at the bar was small, even for me, the atmosphere, food, drinks and hot bartender definitely makes this a contender in 2011. My favourites: the parmesan garlic fries, chicken skewers and the red sangria. And let’s just say I was glad of the new Paciotti boots to boost me up enough to get a better look at that hot bartender. And though my winter fling will be over soon with the re-opening of AGO this weekend, between you and me, I’ll be sneaking back to Villa Blanca through that discreet little side entrance!

Radiant… Rain or Shine!

Thank goodness the rain FINALLY stopped! What’s the point of living in California without sunshine? But better not dwell on it or the Bad Weather Karma will send another system to mess with my boot-wearing season! This time of year rain and persistent overcast days may make one feel drab and gloomy but that doesn’t mean we have to look drab and gloomy. It’s the perfect time to switch to La Mer’s Radiant Infusion. A couple squirts of this dreamy potion will keep you glowing until summer. And you know how this diva likes to glow!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Sheer for the New Year!

What better way to kick off the new year than with a friend of almost twenty years. Growing is so much more fun with your BFFs around and truly helps keep us looking great. Of course, keeping things lit with peach martinis and wine even had us believing neither one of us has changed since we first met. Our secret to looking fabulous as we’re pushed kicking and screaming towards our forties (I’m kicking harder) is not so much trying to look younger, but living a life that keeps us from looking old. We laugh, enjoy wine and food, exercise our minds and bodies and keep our skin glowing with the best that Mother Nature and Neiman Marcus has to offer. For me that means a flawlessly sheer face courtesy of Guerlain’s Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powders and an even more fabulous sheer Givenchy tuxedo shirt. I guess it’s true that the older we get the more comfortable we are with our true selves. But you have my word, this is as sheer as this diva’s gonna get!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
